Life took Jared out of state for college at Morehouse University, while Starlynn pursued her education at Saint Louis University. Despite the physical distance, their connection endured, and during holiday breaks, they rekindled their friendship, gradually paving the way for a deeper, romantic relationship.

Romantic Milestones: From Friends to a Riverfront Kiss

The transition from friends to a couple was marked by a night out on the town at a popular club on the riverfront strip. The evening was filled with hand-holding and their first kiss, igniting the spark of a romance that would define their future. As Starlynn reminisced on that night she told us “We went out together before but not as a couple. It was different this time since we held hands and he kept me by his side. I knew it felt like a date but wasn’t sure until he kissed me. Fireworks!!!! We had a great night just dancing and enjoying each other’s company. The rest is history.”

For Starlynn, the realization that Jared was the one came naturally. She fondly recalls, “I knew he was the one when we didn’t want to leave each other’s company. We just loved being together, and I felt secure.”

The Proposal: A Cozy Kitchen Moment and a Stunning Ring

Their relationship continued to evolve over the months and years that passed. They shared birthdays and holidays together, despite living two hours from one another. It was on one particular birthday that Jared decided to make their bond official. The moment was filled with anticipation as he arrived with a bouquet of flowers. However, it wasn’t just a romantic gesture. Jared had a surprise planned. With a trembling excitement in the air, he dropped to one knee in the cozy kitchen, presenting a stunning engagement ring to Starlynn. Starlynn recommends at least having a day-of coordinator to minimize stress and ensure a smooth, enjoyable wedding day.

For Starlynn, a surprising revelation awaited as she walked down the aisle. She couldn’t witness her own wedding ceremony. However, her worries dissipated the moment her father took her hand to lead her down the aisle, and she embraced the beauty of the moment.

The best marriage advice that the couple received was the: 2-2-2 date rule”. It encourages couples to go on a date every two weeks, spend a weekend away every two months, and take a week-long vacation every two years. A recipe for a lasting bond.
