Check off these tasks in your first 5 months of engagement
You’re engaged! You’ve got the fiancé, you’ve got the ring, so now what? A million to-do’s are probably running through your head. Start with the big stuff and the rest will fall into place.
Establish Your Budget
Much of your wedding planning will be driven by your budget. No matter the size of your budget, set some clear expectations on what your wedding day will look like. This will help avoid any stress down the road.
Lock-In Your Key Vendors
Wedding vendors book up FAST. Lock-in these vendors to ensure that you have your wedding dream team on your big day:
- Venue (first & foremost to secure your wedding date)
- Bridal Gown/Wedding Dress
- Photographer
- Videographer
- Wedding Planner
- Caterer
- DJ or Band
- Florist
- Cake Designer
- Photo Booth
Say “Yes” to Your Dress
Don’t underestimate the amount of time it takes to pick your perfect dress, have your dress in hand, have alterations made, etc. If you are going with a bridal gown, be sure to add this task to the top of your list. Give yourself plenty of time to not only find the perfect dress but to make sure that the dress fits perfectly on your wedding day.
Knock Out That Guest List
It’s important to send out your wedding invitations based on an appropriate timeline. And if you are doing save-the-dates, those will go out first. Typically, save-the-dates should land in the mail 7 months prior to your wedding and invitations should be sent out 5-6 months prior (longer for destination weddings). So, the earlier you knock out your guest list, the easier it will be when it’s time to send out all of your stationery. Plus, it could take days or even weeks to settle on a final list. Tackle this early and the rest will be a breeze.
